This is a video from the EU-IST funded Amigo project. The Amigo project develops an open service oriented middleware architecture for context-aware networked home environments. This video envisions a day in the life of a family living in such an intelligent home environment.

Doesn’t it seem odd …
Doesn’t it seem odd & creepy that in the household of the future, people hardly speak or show affection to each other!? Otherwise, I’m all for this kind of customized house! Better to make it controlled like the Wii game controller though.

You can already do something like this. X-10, a crapload of computers and plasma TVs, a few Windows-Mobile or Apple iPhones….there you go.

Thanks for your comments. In fact, this is in line with the direction we have taken: we have integrated technologies such as X-10 (and other domotic protocols) and we also have wii-like controllers (and multi-modal e.g. together with speech). I also share your wish that this technology should be supportive rather than ‘in stead of’ normal relations.
