  2. victort08 Says:

    You really don’t …
You really don’t need a “KillerNIC” especially if you have a multi-core processor.

dude this card is a waste of money

  4. omniwolfvega Says:

    first off, not all …
first off, not all games are programed to even make use of the additional cores

second, they still mix your networking data and wait for the windows network stack before doing data transmits

i have a multicore, and killer still gave me a noticable boost when i added it, online gameing is just smoother and less lag spikes than before

  5. victort08 Says:

In what games? I hardly feel lag spikes.

  6. smiddymac Says:

    whats the …
whats the difference between nic and k1 is their any use of getting the Nic rather than the K1

    example: …
    example: battlefield 2

i used to just die to artillery, most of the time i wouldnt even see it before i was dead

with a killer, i can actually see the incoming artillery and have time to step out of the way

instead of randomly dieing to explosions i didnt even see, now the game runs smooth enough that i see it the way it was intended

    you don’t make …
    you don’t make sense

that’s like saying “i have a video card so i dont need a sound card”

just because you have a decent processor doesnt mean it can’t be improved even further by having other good parts in your system

  11. omniwolfvega Says:

    and expecting a …
and expecting a router to improve your network performance is pure bullshit

what your claiming is pure ignorance. a router isn’t even required to use the internet unless you have more than 1 pc sharing a network connection and the absolute most that a router could ever do for you is not further limit your bandwith due to the other connections

    I’ve got a …
I’ve got a quad-core processor, more specifically the Q6600. My CPU doesn’t say “stop, I need to go through these packets”.

This only seems beneficial on older PCs.

  20. Domobomb Says:

    Well yeah, but …
Well yeah, but putting a KillerNIC in a quad-core system is like someone ‘pulling the AC out of your Ferrari so you can improve your top speed by 5km/h. Even though a Ferrari’s top speed is way over the speed limit.’

The only benefit, really is in older systems where the networking puts a strain on the cpu. But really, an older system would benefit more a $250 CPU+Video card upgrade then a $250 KillerNIC.
