Yamaha CS2x synth presets and Gibson L6S lead

I didn’t use much of my studio on this one. I was testing my recently aquired Yamaha CS2x synth. I used just the preset sounds, recorded live into Cakewalk Sonar one at a time. I put a guitar lead on top with my Gibson L6S going through the Boss DR-880. I recorded the guitar on 2 tracks simultaneously in Sonar 6, then put some Sonar effects on one of the tracks. I did not use any effects on the CS2x, just the factory preset sounds.

The room was not that dark. The camera capture and rendering in Pinnacle Studio did that, as well as trashing the stereo and removing a lot of the sound dynamics.

I can’t recommend that anyone use Pinnacle Studio. If anyone has good suggestions on a video capture and editing product, I’d like to hear. I have MS Moviemaker and Adobe Premiere Elements, but I used Studio because of the USB hardware with it. I’m going to try recording direct to memory card and uploading that, then synching with the Sonar wav recording.

I don’t know about the other DR880 users out there, but I find that it’s great for making Electronic pop, as well as its traditional use for being an aide to a guitarist for rock music.

Pads and a little bass would do wonders to this otherwise somewhat dry track. It lacks a little structure and a lot of depth. Cool idea though. :)
