Vista many versions, Apple’s Leopard 1 version. Why?

Apple’s next version of its personal computer operating system, like its predecessors, is coming in just one version. Nevertheless that didn’t stop Apple making fun of Microsoft for its oft confusing and slyly complex Windows OS product sales procedure, in which Windows comes in several versions. Apple’s solution to provide just one version of its operating system is a great one, and they put all the features of their OS in that version, for the small price $129, maybe Microsoft will someday follow Apple’s lead.

Windows XP/2003 Server are better than vista and your macs put together. So essentially 7 year old OS is better than your 5 year old. Do the math.

techman, your better is a small world you live in. People will prolly cant get around you the other way - you are being pain in the ass, arent you?

also I assume your business with microsoft ended in 1998 or something. I also take it you don’t know much about handling Windows OS. They give you flexibility and you turn that into a back stabbing crusade. Very nice of you.

hahahah, and osx server is better then that! p.s. osx is from 1999 btw.

    dude, you are …
dude, you are extremely misinformed, mac os x’s core building blocks are about 15 or 16 years old, its actually a flashy version of NeXTStep OS which was developed by Steve Jobs while we was fired from Apple. learn some history before you make naive judgements dumbass! oh and i think we can all agree Linux kicks windows ass any day.

@f00kumofo123: My “small world” is wide enough for my business. And it’s getting wider every day, despite MS’ (decreasing) influence.

Some of my clients still require products running on Windows, unfortunately. So I still have a PC running Windows in my office in order to compile them and to test them. But all the rest of my work does not run on Windows any more. I use Macs and Linux PCs (both running Unix-like OSes).

    @f00kumofo123 (continued):
I have to provide my clients some products (eg systems, softwares and documents) they can use and I can fix without restriction (even when the issue comes from the OS).

Windows is not safe enough, and MS does not provide the means to work around (source codes not provided, late fixes with new bugs, bad technical hotline, …).Relying only on MS’ products may kill your business. Other OSes are not perfect, but they are less risky.

    I have one question …
I have one question. People complain microsoft does not give out OS source code. The only case I know where that *MIGHT* help is when you are a kernel mode drivers programmer.

  13. techmanager Says:

    @f00kumofo123: the …
@f00kumofo123: the OS source code is helpful (1) when the OS is buggy and when the hotline say it is not (and I have often the proof they are wrong) (2) when the OS provides non-documented functionalities that threaten our systems’ security.

I often have to (illegally) reverse MS’ sofwares to find out a way to work around the problems. But I can’t fix the bugs as I can’t modify and compile the codes.

Nb: I develop both system components and applications.

  14. f00kumofo123 Says:

    You’ve made a …
You’ve made a choice - stay with “peoples” software, that nobody really cares if it can be trusted. Honestly, people claiming they can “fix” someone’s product by hacking it are delusional.

  15. f00kumofo123 Says:

    Even when it’s …
Even when it’s buggy - it has been tested to meet business expectations. Last time fixes are punted in favor of stable code. Undocumented functionality is just that - to date internal implementation. It works this release. Next it’s gone and your “fix” breaks the system. I personally don’t have time writing throw away code.

  16. techmanager Says:

    Software …
Software development and maintenance is a craft.

Maybe your work is not that important. But my clients and I need computing systems that DO work. Not being able to fix a blocking issue may put our business in jeopardy.

Apple’s core system and Linux are *open source*, so they can be fixed if needed. Windows is not, and I often have to hack MS’ softs trying to WORK AROUND the bugs - but generally I don’t FIX them.

  17. f00kumofo123 Says:

    Actually I don’t …
Actually I don’t believe that OS bugs if any block development, unless that is an excuse. Windows applications have a well defined market place and development environment. It won’t work well if you try to hammer it into something else. OS source code has nothing to do with this. Develop your own OS and don’t blame Windows for not doing what it’s not designed to do.

    Give a typewriter …
Give a typewriter to each of the million monkeys and they (by chance) will write a novel.
Do the same with MS developers and they (if they are lucky) be able to create an OS that actually works.
    But me thinks not.

  21. f00kumofo123 Says:

    give apple …
give apple ipoodophone shit to each monkey and teach them to blame Microsoft for crappy apple software excrement. If you don’t know how to work with Windows - go back to school (or jungle) you clowns.

lame i guess thats a term that americans use, as for the expleative i know what that means but find it funny you would use it in a sentence for the hole world to see.
And no its not people who use PDF’s nor quicktime that complain its everyone, gamers, students as word crashes on them again, people working with excel and descovering it cant count properly( 850 X 77.1 = 65,535 not 100,000 ),

Jerking off watching porn sites and short circuiting computer keyboard with sperm stains is the reason windows will crash on students.
