Hey it’s your CPU …
Hey it’s your CPU from what I can tell from the beep codes either it is dying on you or needs to be reseated or it is overheating no need for a new mobo
heres exactly what …
heres exactly what happened: i installed a program for my cell phone called Motorola Phone Tools. i then rebooted and *bam* up came the bios rom checksum error screen.
out of all the people ive talked to and as many posts i have made on various message boards, they all say my bios bit the dust or my mobo…nothing was said about my cpu….so i dunno if its that.
well yeah bios rom …
well yeah bios rom checksum error pretty much means that your board has a fried bios chip but yor beep codes say otherwise HOWEVER since you mentioned the motorola phone tools thing I assume that you can hook your phone up to the comp? this may sound stupid but have you tried booting the machine with the phone plugged into it? o nice x-fi card btw
well, those beeps …
well, those beeps were going crazy, so one thing i did to try to fix it was, unplug it from the outlet, then unplug the atx 20 pinn connector from the motherboard and then took out the cmos battery (which is brand new) and left everything off/out for a good 13+ hours, then plugged everything back in and booted up, and still got the error.
the beep codes changed as well. just went “bee boop bee boop…” and when i typed in the file to flash my bios, it would just lock up.
x-fi? whats that?
well your sound …
well your sound card looks like an x-fi from the back lol, anyway if your trying to cold boot the thing which may reset your bios, you have to hold down the power button while the power is off and the battery is out, for atleast 10 min.
maybe i heard your beep codes wrong but they can be found at this site bioscentral(dot)com/beepcodes/awardbeep(dot)htm
oh…its a Terratec …
oh…its a Terratec EWX 24/96 sound card. its made for musicians…like me. it is like 6 years old tho.
anyway…i havent tried that “hold the power button for 10mins” thing..never even heard that. can you give me exact instructions on how/what to do?
ill also check out that site..
well i don’t have …
well i don’t have your manula but usually what you can do is either do what i said above to unplug it and hold down the power button for 10 min, or reset your bios using the the bios jumper, i don’t know where it is on your motherboard but it’s a 3 prong jumper with only 2 of them being covered by a little black rectangle (thats the actual jumper) you just move it to the other one that wasn’t covered along with the middle prong turn it on wait for what it says, restart and replace the jumper.
O and if thats your …
O and if thats your sound card then i reccomend that you do get the x-fi platinum card it comes with Ports for recording from a keyboard and guitar in the front of your machine and the sound quality is the absolute best try and look for it online
um..and youre wrong …
um..and youre wrong. no offense, but sound blasters suck shit for any type of music recording or anything related to that. they arent made for that. not to mention their noise floor is horrible.
ive tried moving …
ive tried moving the jumper a billion times, believe me.
ill try the 10min thing…even tho i highly doubt itll work
it’s not a …
it’s not a soundblaster but whatever you’re the professional musician not me
well if it doesn’t …
well if it doesn’t then yeah i guess go and get a new board since nothing seems to be working, is there a particular reason why you got an epox board?
well, ive had it …
well, ive had it for quite a while…i believe i got it 4 years ago. couldnt tell you an exact reason why i got it now tho. but at least i can find a replacement for cheap since its an older model.
thanx for tryin to help tho!
Sry it couldn’t be …
Sry it couldn’t be resolved cheaply glad to help
I don’t know if …
I don’t know if this is true of your motherboard, but many motherboards have a special “restore” feature. Basically, you remove a jumper on the motherboard, insert the recovery disk into the floppy disk drive (some also can use CDs), and restart the computer. It will read from the drive, and make a few beeps when it is done. You then turn off the computer, remove the floppy, and replace the jumper. Hopefully, then, your BIOS will be restored.
my old award …
my old award motherboard would come up with the same checksum error message i solved this by altering the
hey…finish your …
hey…finish your reply!! id love to get this fixed!!! thanx!!!
sorry power failure …
sorry power failure lol erm solved it by getting it to boot up from a floppy and stil the error came up but it ignored it lol erm theres a chip somewere on your motherboard (depends on the model im not an xpert lol) and its removable just a thought but have u tried a new chip? cant imagine it would be xpensive to get a 2nd hand chip
oh you mean a bios …
oh you mean a bios chip. ya…i tried that. dont wanna do it. id rather just get a mobo/cpu combo off ebay. im only running a 1.3gig athlon. ill go up a bit to an Asus.
lol kwl that better …
lol kwl that better then what im using atm lol i only gt crappy 750 meg duron lol erm ye cant imagine a mobo combo would be expensive either my m8 sed to me i could pick up a 3gig chip and board for about £100 (doubt its true) do u have messanger? could post links on there if u like rob_180490(@)hotmail(.)com
AWFLASH utility is …
AWFLASH utility is the worst stability I had. I flashed a CompaQ motherboard to the proper manufacturer and the thing freeses a lot of times. I’d suggest you to download a fresh copy of the utility. If that doesn’t do, then I’d try another floppy without the BIOS file.
hey dude wow your …
hey dude wow your gettin bad advice from people especially tehcomputech hold the power button for 10 fuckin minutes rediculous or reset your bios lol or that your bios has a fried bios chip or there are cpu problems all this is nonsense from an idiot first of all u have got the bios checksum error because you removed the cmos chip (complimentary metal oxide semiconductor)this message is not 2 be worried about it meens your cmos chip details have returned to default settings
so first enter bios …
so first enter bios at boot up by using your function keys f1-f12 commonly f2 within bios we can reprogram cmos information we need to update time, date, boot sequence and hard drive perameters EASY 1st change time and date to your current time and date 2nd change boot sequence to floppy 1.44m 3.5 3rd find an option called ide auto detection this will send a signal through your cables to look and identify any hard drives if 1 is found then the perameters are displayed save and exit DONE
at next boot up …
at next boot up there will be no cmos checksum error message and it will continue to boot into windows if there are no other problems
the post bleeps ( …
the post bleeps (power on self test) bleeps are goin crazy because you took more components out put them all back in then there will be 1 bleep pattern then find the motherboard manufacture online match the bleeps with the problem then you know the problem component replace component problem solved all i could tell is its not your video adapter or cpu thats the problem i could help more with more info but thats what id do and im a internationally qualified pc engineer so good luck
