Mac OS X Security Software

http://live.pirillo.com - Should security software be run on a Mac? In short - yes. Never assume you are 100% safe. Mac enjoys security through obscurity. Your chances are less for infection than with Windows, but there is still a risk there. At a minimum, you should run a firewall to ensure you won’t be exploited. An anti virus program is a good idea, as well. Remember, surf smart and educate yourself about security issues.

  5. DMXell Says:

    The Unix base …
The Unix base provides our security on mac’s and Linux-based PCs. But as a courtesy to Windows users, I use ClamXav which scans my emails so that if I send an email every one I send is virus’ free, or if I transfer data onto a sever none of my files contain virus’ for Windows. Plus trojans and Worms do exist on Mac’s, so some security is needed.

    Chris, why do you …
Chris, why do you contradict yourself after posting an hour long video saying that you would not upgrade your machine to Windows Vista because your printer and i don’t know what other fax software did not work? When you clearly state in this video that you have Vista and that it is “BETTER” than XP when you totally said something different on a video you posted March 1, 2007 called Windows Vista vs. Windows XP…

  12. Rumdabbadoh Says:

    About security …
About security issues on OS X, I haven’t used a single security program on my Mac and haven’t suffered one bit, been using all kinds of fishy programs. Nothing. Programs in Windows (XP and earlier at least, don’t know about Vista) can install themselves without the user knowing, which is _not_ the case in OS X, always asking the user for approval in these situations. However, a stupid user can install a virus, but none the less HE/SHE installed it by own power.
