JavaScript Tutorial 1.1: The Very Basics

This tutorial will cover the really basic things about JavaScript, mainly proper syntax of strings, method of script inclusion, and the commonly used alert() and do ent.write().

To those of a keen eye, you’ll get a glimpse of my recent history at 1:33, and for that I apologize.

“absolutely necessity”: that should be “absolute.”

The error message display comes courtesy of Firebug, an incredibly useful Firefox add-on.

The song is Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.

That was awesome, and the best part was the pace. I can’t stand tutorials that are monotone. It’s too hypnotic, this does the trick though. Thanks

    Well, yes, I’m …
Well, yes, I’m rather certain the idea that certain types of music help to retain new information is backed by scientific study, but I presume the most helpful type of music differs from person to person; cl ical music (particularly Beethoven’s “Fur Elise” and “Flight of the Bumblebee” — which I used in one of the other tutorial videos) has always been beneficial to me, though. Whenever I settle down with a new book, I always throw on a bit of Beethoven…

Thats a wicked tutorial. Instant subscription earned :P Although, I read a study and apparently, dance music helps concentrate more than cl ical funnily enough. Anyway, keep posting! Cheers,

    Taking into account …
Taking into account the eccentricities of genetics, I’m going to presume it’s different for each person. In recent memory, listening to a varied combination of Disturbed, Rise Against, Linkin Park, and Demetri Martin has caused me to be the most productive.

    I daresay that is …
I daresay that is the most flattering jumble of poetic praise I’ve yet received. Well done, indeed, and — of course — my thanks. Ah, and I’m a devout follower of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, just so that doesn’t get left open…
