Next Generation All-IP Telecom Networks: Quality of Service Challenges and Is…

Google Tech Talks
January, 14 2008

ABSTRACT

The SIP-based IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), while recently introduced, has become one of the primary distinguishing features of the next generation of mobile telecommunication systems. IMS allows mobile operators to offer advanced value-added services – like VoIP, so-called push-to-media, video, interactive gaming, and mobile banking – to their customers timely and efficiently. Google’s plans to enter the wireless world open up a world of possibilities for offering customers and businesses advanced services such as targeted location-based services and advertisements through the IMS framework.

Deploying IMS, however, is a non-trivial task. The core challenge for the telecom industry has been and will be the integration of the current radio access network (RAN) and IP transport infrastructure with the IMS domain. Within standardization bodies, efforts are underway to address the issues for call setup and mobility signaling, while developing unified user profile management and Quality of Service (QoS) architectures. The real goal is a standardized, IMS-centric, end-to-end unified signaling architecture.

To this end, this presentation provides an overview of IMS and QoS signaling over integrated RAN and IMS domains. By using an exemplary family media service, aspects and specifics of the end-to-end QoS invocation, control and policy enforcement, including roaming scenarios, are demonstrated. Based on laboratory measurements performed at Sprint-Nextel aided with simulations, the Post Dial Delay (PDD) delay is evaluated and some practical recommendations for delay reduction are presented. The presentation will conclude with discussion of open issues and viable solutions. This presentation should be of interest to Googlers who work on mobile related projects and intend to have a big picture of next generation mobile systems such as application development, and service and system integration with wireless operators.

This presentation is based on the article S. Zaghloul, A. Jukan, W. Alanqar: “Extending QoS from Radio Access to all-IP Core in 3G Networks – An Operator’s Perspective,” IEEE Communications Magazine, Sept 2007.

Top Tips on Network Router Configuration

If you want to set up your own network, and you have multiple computers, you will need to set up a router. Cable (wired) routers, while still legitimate, are quickly becoming obsolete so this article focuses on wireless routers.

Most retail wireless routers will cover a large area in your home or office. However, to cut down on cable usage, you may want to place the router as close to your modem as possible. Your modem will have a phone line connection so it will be less mobile. Ideally, you would want your modem and router to be one device. Many ISPs will give you a modem/router but you’ll have to request it.

Wireless routers have built-in installation software that you connect with and use via an internet browser. You don’t need an internet connection to configure your wireless router. In fact, you can setup a network without an internet connection at all.Duration : 0:1:31

Tutorial: Connecting Xbox Wireless-G Adapter to Xbox 360

This is a brief and simple step-by-step process in using the Xbox Wireless-G Adapter for the Xbox 1 Console that can also be used on the Xbox 360 by following these simple steps,

1. Connect a ethernet cable from the Adapter to the 360.

2. Go to System Blade and in that go to Network Settings.

3. Then go to Wireless Mode to search for your Wireless Network, if there is a password required to enter it will automatically ask you what the password is and input it.

4. Make sure you set IP and DNS settings on Automatic. You might need to input the MAC Address on Additional Settings if it says IP Fails which you can find out the MAC Address by using your PC.

- Go to Start/Run and type CMD

- Then type ipconfig /all

- A list should be on there and one of the things listed is the MAC Address, copy what you see there and input it on the Xbox 360.

After that test your connection and you should be good. Remember you only pay around $60 and below instead of buying the Xbox 360′s Network Wireless Adapter which costs $100. I hope this video helps out for those in need and I hope it saves up your money to spend it on games or whatever.Duration : 0:3:45

Chrisagis Brothers The Gingerbread House Randy & Lisa Marple

Chrisagis Brothers present Christmas With The King segment The Gingerbread House.

The Chrisagis Brothers have become known for Family Values and Entertainment. Brian & Shawn Chrisagis have been in ministry for 27 years now and have been working on TV for the last 13 years. This Christmas season you can enjoy them in their new one hour Christmas Special for WTOV 9 “Christmas with the King”. The special airs on Christmas Day at noon and features Brian & Shawn Chrisagis in their very own variety show.

The concept of the show is taking the old classic Scrooge story and updating it with an epic mini-series about a self consumed King called Me (played larger than life by Christy Moore) who is visited by the King of Kings (played compassionately by Shawn Chrisagis). King Me must change her life before her kingdom comes crashing down around her. Since King Me’s life has been all about herself the castle is in ruins and her subjects are suffering. Will King Me make room in her kingdom for King of Kings to rule and reign? You will have to watch the Christmas Special to find out. Also featured in the saga are two hysterical goofball Gaurds (played by Brian Chrisagis & Richard Dettore) and (Ed Moore) as the zany narrator Jester. The Brothers will also be sharing some of their special memories of their parents and grandparents at Christmas time and Randy & Lisa Marple do a comical skit on building a Gingerbread House which is based on an actual event.

“Christmas with the King” also features the music of the Chrisagis Brothers along with the wonderful talents of Ed & Christy Moore (Risen Witness), the incredible vocal range of Carolyn Glaub who sings ‘O Holy Night’, and a touching musical number by Santa Clause himself which will leave you in tears. Former TV 9 News Anchor Sherrie McCutcheon makes an appearance as Mrs. Clause and there will be alot more surprises including a heart wrenching song entitled “Heart of the Homeless” featuring Kama Martin as a mime. This is a Christmas Special you don’t want to miss, it is sure to be a favorite for years to come for the entire family.

Brian & Shawn Chrisagis are also known for their Good News Gang puppets and their Good News Toy Line and children’s books. The brothers have traveled internationally and have appeared on the Dove Network, The Watchmen Network, Cornerstone, Sky-Angel, and many other TV Networks. They have worked with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars like Erik Estrada, Jennifer O’Neill, Jack Scalia, Jo Anne Pflug, Suzanne Sommers, Peter Funt, Lee Horsley, Lucky Vanous, Fred Travelena, Georgia Durante, Charles Wahlheim, Teri Copley, Brett Baxter Clark and the list goes on. They also have worked with Christian Recording artist Stephanie Boosahda. They appeared on Candid Camera as the twins who played practical jokes on people in shopping malls.

The Brothers are now heard on their own radio show on WKKX AM 1600 called Chrisagis Mania and are working on several new projects like a variety series called “Walk the Walk” and an animated video series based on their children’s toyline. These projects will be released through their new production company that they have formed with Ed & Christy Moore called ‘BSECM Productions’. This production Company will release shows like the old Carol Burnett, Saturday Night Live, Sonny and Cher, Donny and Marie shows with a Christian twist.
